2 Month Shots

I didn’t post when Shane turned two months so here are the pictures I took. My camera batteries were dead so I had to take these on my cell phone and all of the ones where he was smiling turned out blurry. He was kind of over the picture taking by the time I got this one! Poor kid, always being hounded by the momma paparazzi.
Shane had his two month appointment last week (at two and a half months) and he got his first shots. He is 25 inches (97th percentile) and weighs 14.3 lbs (95th percentile). The Pedi said he has some of the best reflexes he has seen, and is a little ahead of himself in reaching developmental milestones. Everyone at the office commented on how long he is! I’ll save the rest of my bragging until his 3 month post later on.
We left the office to find that my car wouldn’t start. My MIL came and picked us up and took us home, and later that evening BIL called and offered to help tow the car. This kind offer resulted in several hours of driving all over the metroplex to get truck, trailer, load car, and return home. I was relieved as the Dr. office is in a bad area of town, and I wasn’t sure the car would still be there in the morning. Shane and I spent that night and the next (Tues and Weds night) at BIL and SIL’s house. Nathan came home Wednesday morning and napped for a few hours, then worked on the car that evening and the Thursday morning. We ended up needing a new fuel pump, filter, and fuse relay. Now we’re up and running again. He had to leave again on Thursday afternoon. Poor guy.

On Friday we went back to Plano to see the Coulters, and Dave got in that afternoon. Saturday I met them at the Fort Worth Stockyards and we did the tourist thing. Then I went back to their hotel to spend a little more time with them.

Uncle Pete, Uncle Tim, Uncle Dave
Sunday I stayed home, other than church, and Shane and I sweated all day. It was 87 degrees in our house! I am really tired of the continual problems with our AC and I wish the landlord would do something. This morning I woke up to find the unit frozen up. Erg! At least it's cool at work, and wee man is in a cool house too since he's with his Grammy.

A pipe organ and old friends

Shane has been on many outings in his short life and I will write about some of them later, but this is the most recent one—Chuck Swindoll’s church! For those of you who aren’t familiar with Pastor Swindoll, he is a well-known Christian radio preacher and author, among other things. In 1998 he started a church, Stonebriar Community, in Frisco TX. According to their website, about 4000 people attend every Sunday. I’ve been to some megachurches, but I don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere this big! You know you’re going to a big church when there are real po-po directing traffic a couple of blocks away.

Frisco is kind of a ways from where we live but some old friends of my family are down visiting from New York and so I decided to meet them there. I’m not sure that I would choose a church of that size to attend regularly because I don’t know how you would ever get to know anyone. I was, however, very impressed by their friendliness and the wide array of programs available for children and adults. It seems like they also have an extensive outreach ministry. I got a very different vibe from this church then some of the other megachurches I have visited, and in a good way. They had a HUGE choir and an even bigger pipe organ. I love pipe organs and this one’s pipes were spread all the way across the back of the sanctuary. They also had 3 violins, a cello, and a clarinet. I’m guessing from pictures that usually there is a full orchestra. And, they sang REAL hymns! I miss hymns, and I think that’s the first time Shaney has even heard a hymn (other than the ones I sing him). I know the sermon was about Joseph but I couldn’t tell you much more than that. Lil’ man always gets hungry during sermons—I regularly miss them!
(I totally got this pic off the church website)

After the service Uncle John took us out to eat and then we went back to their hotel and hung out for the rest of the afternoon. It was so fun to spend time with them and catch up! I hope to go see them again later this week.

Shane and Aunt Leney:

Shane and Pete (Uncle Pete? I forgot to ask him)

He was wearing a really cute outfit for church but when we got to the restaurant he had a blow out. Like, a HUGE blowout. Like, the biggest blowout he's had yet. And I hadn't gotten a picture of him in it yet. Lesson learned--take the picture before you leave the house!

I'm a blogging slacker...

“A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born unto the world.” John 16:21

In my great joy, I have been remiss in updating my blog!

It may have something to do with the fact that we only have patchy internet at our house, and I spent several weeks with no internet at all.

It also may have something to do with this smiley little face:
And the fact that I spend a lot of my time talking to Shane, playing with or watching him play, or even just watching him sleep. And then I spend the other few minutes doing unimportant things like, oh, I don’t know, cooking or doing dishes or things like that.

All this to say that I have a lot to catch up on! Stay tuned for more…
