TIWTRT

My little boy is getting so old.  He is pulling up on pretty much anything he can. I was laying on the couch last night not feeling well and he came over, pulled up on the couch so we were face to face, and grinned a huge smile at me as if to say, "look Mama what I can do! Aren't you so proud?" Little joy-bringer.

We went to the Rodeo on Tuesday for Nathan's birthday, and we also spend a weekend in Port Arthur/Galveston. Hopefully I'll have some pictures from those events soon. But for now, here he is enjoying the swing at Thomas and Melissa's.

First Snow

Click on the collages to expand.

We got our first snow last weekend! Sunday, January 9th. So of course we dragged Shane out to play.

TIWTRT

Short one this week:

-Shane loves to chew on tags. LOVES to chew on tags. He also with sit there and  practice his pincer grasp on them, over, and over, and over.

-Shane loves to pretend to drive!

-In the last week or two he has learned this fake cough/laugh that is just too funny. Nathan calls it his machine gun: e-heh-heh-heh-heheheheh.

-He'll screech "Aaaaaaagh" and try to drag you to him.

-He likes to suck on his lip. He started this when he got teeth, around 4 months.

-He has two top teeth breaking through and two more bottom teeth breaking the surface.

-HE CRAWLED LAST NIGHT. Like, really crawled, not "my mommy is proud of me and thinks I crawled". I have proof. Melissa saw it too ;) I told her she was my backup, in case I just sound like I have Proud Mommy Syndrome in which you think your child is doing things before they actually do. He also went from crawling to sitting up. Anyway, it was January 13th and he was 7 months 1 week 2 days. (Just so I remember to write it on his calendar.)

7 Months

I feel like I don't have as much to write since I've been doing TIWTRT!

At seven months, Shane:

-Is around 20 lbs. That's my best guess.

-6-9 month clothes, 9+ month jammies, and size 3 diapers.

-Almost has two top teeth and two new bottom ones!

-Blows raspberries CONSTANTLY

-Mostly breastfed with solids here and there. He's not a huge fan of real food.

-Almost crawls. He gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth.

-His favorite toys this month are books, Glo-worm, ring stacker, and singing toolbench.

-Love his jumper. Man, that thing was a good investment!

-Showing a few signs of separation anxiety. Nothing very bad though.

Christmas Day

(Click on collages to enlarge.)

On Christmas morning we had family time at home. First we opened stockings, then read the story of Jesus (out of Shane's Bible this year), and then opened our presents.  It's funny how once you have a kid you don't even care about your presents, you just want to see them open theirs.  But, I did get a Kindle for my Christmas. Squee!!

After family time we had to go over to Andrea and Justin's for another family Chrismas. Shane made bank, man! I'm grateful for all of the gifts he got but at the same time I struggle because, well, the meaning of Christmas in Nathan's family is the presents and that's not what I (or Nathan) believe.  I pray that we will be able to teach him what Christmas is really about!

We headed home around five or six and had Melissa and Thomas over as I've already posted. Altogether it was a fun day with way too much food!

Christmas Eve

Most of these pictures are collages, since I have a lot of pictures. Just click to enlarge.

I had Christmas Eve off work so we went to Nathan's grandma's house around 2 for family Christmas.

We stayed until 5:30ish and his parents and Andrea and Alie came over to our house around 7. I wish I'd taked a picture, but I (and Melissa) had made several kinds of cookies so we did a cookie buffet.

Almost Christmas

These was our week leading up to Christmas, as told by Shane:

Bake cookies. Lots of cookies.

Help Mama make a wreath for the front door. I'm a good helper.

Go to Pastor Cory and Shelly's Christmas party. Play with Aunt Mel.

 Play on the couch.

 Work on crawling.

Play video games with Daddy. Daddy's remote looks tastier than mine.

Wrap presents with Mama. On a 75 degree day. I sure like to eat wrapping paper!

Open my very first Christmas present, from Aunt Melissa and Uncle Thomas.

TIWTRT

I should write down little things I want to remember as they happen because as I sit down to write this post I can’t remember all of them! Here are a few:

They way his soft fuzzy hair feels on my cheek.

The way he’ll duck his head in for a cuddle.

The way he scared his Daddy to DEATH by falling off the bed (he’s ok.)

The way he flaps his arms and kicks his legs and smiles SO big when he gets excited or happy.

The nursing aerobics.

The way he refuses to go to sleep lately. Sigh.

The soft sighs and coos he makes while he sleeps (seriously—this child talks in his sleep)

The way he rolls toward me and pats my face/arm/breast in his sleep, just to make sure I’m there.

The way he FINALLY liked some food last night. Well, he likes food if it’s grown up food, like carrots or cut up chunks of fruit. Last night was the first time he actually like food I made just for him—homemade oatmeal put through the grinder with some pear and breast milk to thin. I’m not in a hurry for him to learn to eat, but he needs to try!

The way he laughs when you: bump him with a pillow, say “blub blub blub” in a low voice, say “arf arf arf” in a high voice, pretend to chew on his tummy, sides, legs, or neck.

The way he thinks he’s a big boy and can stand up and walk and the way he gets so very frustrated that he can’t!

Nathan just called me to say that out of his toy basket he picked…a book. Yes, that is my son.
